OB/GYN = PCP, right?

So believe it or not I do not currently have a primary care physician. Some may ask how can that be, but honestly I've not needed one. I have been pregnant every year since 2003 (I had a miscarriage early 2004) resulting in my OB/GYN taking care of any issues I may have had. The problem now though is that I need to find a PCP and have no idea where to start. Ok I have an idea, my preferred physician list, but other than that I'm open to recommendations. I don't care if they are in H'ville or in town I just want them to be good and not a drug reps favorite docotor :) So any recommendations?

Matthew and I go to the Hillsboro Village at Vanderbilt. It's rather a lengthy drive, and hetic because of DT Nashville, but worth it. His doctor is very nice and takes all the time that he needs with you. We don't trust the PCP doctors in H'ville because they don't seem to want a relationship with their patient. Matthew had elevated blood pressure, and told him that it was normal. We took him to Vanderbilt for something different and they treated him right then and there. The doctor was not too happy that they did not do anything about it, and dismissed him with out any follow up visits. I had the same happen to me when I had a viral infection. I told them (H'ville) NP that I really felt like I was coming down with the flu, but she said that I did not have enough fiber in my diet. The next day, I was rushed to St. Thomas for a stomach flu, and elevated blood sugars. So now, Matthew and I stick with Vanderbilt for PCP issues and St. Thomas for life threatening emergencies (ER trips).
I hope you find the right PCP, and sorry to ramble on so much.

Hendersonville Family Practice is where Josh and I both go. It is located in Hvill hospital building c. We see Dr. Curtis. He is wonderful. Older, not much of a personality, but truly cares about your health and it is nice and close by. You can usually get into him the same day, even within the same hour you call. I like that. You never wait that long, etc.

826-3100 is the number.

Hope that helps!
Alison

good to see you today!

I love my doctor. She's a wonderful caregiver, friend, mom, and Christian. We met years and years ago. Her husband used to work at Belmont. She's out of Heritage Medical....Donna Scudder. And I love the fact that once you have a relationship with her you can call her direct and talk through things w/o having to always see her. If your kids have strep throat, and you think you have it, she'll call in the RX for you. Going out of town..not a problem. She's there on the phone with you. She really cares. Really. And I know your OB too. This one's my 2nd favorite doctor!
