I'm back!!

I can't believe it's been a week since I've had internet, and amazing enough I've survived! :) I have been able to get on a couple of times at the in-laws but those times have been quick just to check a couple of things. It's funny because as I checked my Google reader there were 91 blog post to catch up on and I had 31 emails (would have been more but this was something I checked the couple of times I got on). Now finally after almost 2 hours I'm all caught up, well except for my own updates. I'll go ahead and give you the rough draft with hopefully pictures to come this next week.

The craziness started last Monday (18th) with the flooring guys coming and Jeremy and I going to buy appliances. Can I just say you know you're getting older when you get excited about appliances and boy am I really excited about my new washer and dryer!

Tuesday was day 2 on flooring and a surprise with my bestest friend helping me to clean the house. (thank you again!) At the same time my in-laws were at the house painting.

Wednesday was delivery day of the new appliances as well as the furniture we had purchased earlier in the month. oh and more painting! Then that night I had 4 sweet ladies come and help me move clothing and a few other smaller item from the apartment.

Thursday I got a jump start (had really planned on staying in my PJs all day) from a friend letting me know I had her for a couple of hours. I got a couple of boxes together, "packed" my dishes in laundry baskets with blankets and headed over to the house. We unloaded that stuff and then she helped me line a few more shelves and put the puzzle pieces, I mean shelves, up in the closet. It was supposed to rain all day but since it didn't we decided at the last minute to go ahead and move some more stuff from the apartment. That night, with the help of some really great friends, Jeremy moved our mattresses, living room furniture, kitchen table, and the BEAST aka the computer desk. This was our first night of sleeping in the house.

Friday was nice because I was able to just get up and start getting things done without having to get the girls together. I spent the day getting some more things in their places, taping the walls so that Jeremy could paint, and getting the girls together to go to my moms. I took them over there about 5:30 and then Jeremy and I met in Rivergate for dinner. We had every intention of going to the apartment afterward to get a few more things but honestly at this point my body just stopped so we went home and vegged out instead.

Saturday Jeremy, his dad, and brother went and got the last bit of furniture and stuff from the apartment before starting more painting. His mom came over about 9 (my aunt came over about 2) and we began moving boxes in the house from the garage and unpacking them. I can truly say I'm amazed at all that got done this weekend. By 6pm my kitchen was together, the playroom was organized, the girls' room and bathroom together, as well as the master bedroom and bath. Jeremy finally hooked up my washer and dryer about this time and I don't think the laundry has stopped yet!

Sunday we went to church and then Jeremy went home and I ran a couple of errands before my mom brought the girls back. While she was here we realized our DVD/VHS player that we bought in October quit working which was a total disappointment since cable hadn't been hooked up yet.

Monday was Gracie's birthday celebrated by more cleaning, a trip to Wal-Mart, eating out with Ninnie and Pop and then to there house for cake, ice cream, and presents. Tuesday was Jeremy's birthday (he's 30 now) celebrated by him working, us going to Target, having our first cooked meal in "the new house", taking the DVD/VHS player back to H H Gregg, a trip to Lowes for mini-blinds and then home to hang the mini-blinds. (yes I know, I really know how to throw a great party). Wednesday was fun because it snowed and the girls got to experience their first real (or atleast real for TN) snow! Gracie really liked it and even made a snow angel but not so much for Carleigh. We didn't stay out long but it was fun while we were out there.

As for today, I had a doctors appointment and then we drove around downtown looking for daddy. I sent him a text seeing where he was and then drove by but the girls couldn't see him :( Once we got home the Comcast guy came and hooked up our cable, internet, and phone. It sure is nice being connected again. And then last but certainly not least I went and settled everything with the apartment so we are officially DONE!!

Whew I know that was long, and thank you if you've stuck to the end with me. Like I said I'm going to try and post some pictures in the next few days, especially before and after house pictures. Until then...Good night!

To my frugal friends

We all love to save money when we can so I wanted to make sure you knew about this deal. On Wednesday March 5, anytime after noon, the new Regal Cinemas (16?) on Indian Lake Blvd. in Hendersonville is offering $2 movies and $1 popcorn. This is the BRAND NEW theater and proceeds benefits Mercy Children's clinic. I heard about it on the radio this weekend and wanted to pass the info along. I have no idea what they will be showing that day but hey for 2 bucks in a new theater, I call that date night!!!!

After checking the site this offer is good on Monday the 3rd, Wednesday the 5th, and Thursday the 6th with each day sponsoring a different charity. The official grand opening of the theater is the 7th so go early for a deal and sneak preview!!

Guilty Pleasure

I know this is probably going to sound really lame but since moving into the apartment my most frequent guilty pleasure has been HGTV. This is the first time since Jeremy and I were married that we've had more than 20 cable channels and we are diving into it. Everyday I have on HGTV, even if it's just background noise, but for the past week it won't come in. What's up with that? Is anyone else having this problem?

knowledge after the storm

It always surprises me what we learn after natural disasters. For instance, I was talking to my mom, who works for Farm Bureau Insurance, this week about if they had been flooded with calls after the tornadoes that hit Tennessee. She told me that at her office that hadn't received too many calls but that apparently the 1-800 number was over loaded. The next thing she said completely caught me off guard and it's something I will remember for future reference; did you know that some insurance companies don't cover college students belonging in their dorm rooms without a separate policy? Honestly it's something I never thought about (1) because I never went to college (2) because even though we have a renters policy for the apartment I just never considered a dorm room the same thing. I know this probably doesn't apply to most people who read this blog but if you know of college student please have them make sure they have a policy that covers their stuff in case of an emergency. The storm alone can be devastating but then finding out you didn't have coverage on your belongings can be even more so.

I hope this helps someone out there.

Consignment time in TN

It's that time again when mommies all across the state start going through their kids stuff and start putting white index cards on items with safety pins. Whether you have a whole slew of kids or just 1, this time of year is a must. It really is amazing all of the awesome things you can find at a fraction of the cost you would normally spend.

My friend Brea runs THE best consignment sale north of Nashville, Encores & More North. This year she's in a new location, next to Aldi in Hendersonville, and it's going to be great! Go and check out her website because she offers some really great programs....worker programs, consignor advantages, new mom pre-sale, and half-off days. If you happen to know of a new mom (oldest child 18 months or younger) be sure to tell them about the sale so that they can get really great equipment for that new bundle of joy at REALLY great prices. This is in addition to all the experienced moms who will be there to help answer ANY questions they might have....sure beats the 18 or 50 year old floor consultant at those chain stores.

The sale runs March 8-15...I hope to see you there!

7 Fun Facts about me

Yesterday Audrey tagged me in her blog to list 7 fun facts about myself so here I go...

1. I'm perpetually late. It's not that I mean to and actually hate it when I'm late but nonetheless I'm ALWAYS late. So if I say 1 I really mean 1:15.

2. I hate it when people make simple spelling mistakes such as the wrong form of to, two, or too. I know I'm not the best grammatically but I at least conscientiously take the time to try and get it right. Now punctuation for me is another story. :)

3. I've colored my hair since I was in the 8th grade and have NO IDEA what my natural color actually is.

4. I have these little black specks on the color part of my eyes. It's funny because every once in a while I'll have someone say "did you know you have specks in your eyes"...nope didn't know that! :)

5. I can be very sarcastic. It's probably not a good habit but sometimes you just have to say "Here's your sign!"

6. Apparently my 2 favorite phrases are "SHUT UP" and SERIOUSLY!?!"

7. I have 2 scars around my left eye. 1 is from where my cousin accidentally hit me with a golf club when I was about 3 and the other is from a softball taking a bad hop.

So there you have it, a few things about me you may or may not have known. Now I'm going to tag Brea (I know you're excited to get taqged again), Katie (time for a new post), Heather (time to start a blog), Christy, and Maggie

3 is SO much harder than 2

You may be thinking "how can you possibly know that, the baby hasn't even been born yet?", but I'm not talking about the number of kids but about AGE!! Oh my, why is it that you hear all about the "terrible 2s" but no one seems to mention the "horrible 3s"? Why is that? Is it because once you get through it you try to block it from your memory? It is amazing to me that the closer Gracie gets to 3 the more she acts out. It's almost like she's having an identity crisis or something. She never really threw tantrums until now, she's becoming very sassy, and just down right defiant. For those of you who have been through this already...any suggestions? For those who are approaching 3....be ready!!! :)
