Grocery Budget
Out of curiosity, what do you budget weekly for groceries? If you want you can comment under "Anonymous" but I would like to know 4 things....how much you budget, how many are in your family, is it just food or food and toiletries, and where do you primarily shop. The reason for the question is that I've recently read of a family that has a $40 per week budget~ours is closer to $100~so are we spending too much?

I spend close to $100 or $120 a month. That is just for food (not counting cokes and milk that we have to get every few days or so). That is just the food itself. I have so much of the other things because of CVS and Walgreens.
I shop mostly at Wal-Mart, but if the deals are better at Kroger, I will shop there.
Because of CVS and Walgreens, I don't spend as much every month. Which helps out a lot, and the coupons.
Personally, I think $40 AWESOME, but for this family it's impossible due to my Diabetes (I have to have whole grain bread, milk, and things that have high protein and fiber).
From where I have read on multiple sites on the internet, most people average about $400 to $600 a month on food.
I shop for a whole month for just food, and that brings me to (like I said) $120 (Campbell's cook book is the best for good but cheap meals).
Sorry to ramble on so much.
Take care girl!

I'm a bit embarrassed of how much some of our categories are in our budget, this being one. We've been budgeting $600/month. But with Aldi's now in town, I'm curious as to how it will affect my number. I had about $150 leftover last month! This includes everything - toiletries, diapers, etc. I'm trying also to utilize Costco more as well. And since Publix is in our neighborhood, that tends to be where I do my "run in" shopping, which always leaves me spending more than I wished.
Budget? What's that? j/k! We used to spend around $100 a week.....just for food. My last Kroger run was around $150....partially b/c i had formula and diapers in the cart. Also...I have really noticed increased prices! So....I would say we spend around 500 to 600 for food AND necessities. I usually shop Kroger and Target. I don't do coupons and/or spend hours trying to plot out my shopping trips. I just don't have the time for that right now.....maybe someday.
I used to spend around $110/week for a family of 4. Since January I've been averaging about $80/week. This includes everything- diapers and all. The coupon thing makes a WORLD of difference. So does CVS!
Before gas went crazy high, we were budgeting about $400 monthly- and that includes groceries, toiletries, laudry detergent- all of that kind of stuff. I've had to readjust that a couple of times in the last few months- now we are at $500 a month- but again, that includes more than just food.
wow thank you to everyone who posted. I feel better now knowing that I'm average :)
