When Gracie doesn't want to take a nap

these are the kinds of things she does......

This was yesterday. She decided that she wanted to take her clothes out of her closet and put them behind the bedroom door.

And this was a couple of months ago. I had laid her down for a nap in my bed because I didn't want her waking her sister up. Well things had gotten quiet so I went in to check and sure enough she had gotten into my makeup. This was also the same week she poured shampoo all over my bed while she was supposed to be taking a nap. At least I can laugh about in now!!!

I would go in and check on Abbi every 5 min. or so. If she's not laying in her bed, she then has to give me what ever she's playing with. After that, I just start taking things away. But the main thing is to just go in every few min. and check on her. I would often "scare" Abbi by saying "What are you doing?" while her back is to me. I know, I'm a mean mommy, but it worked. I rarely have to get on to her at nap time!

Have you tryed the reward method. Yes its like bribing her but i works...had the same prob with corey but i would tell him things like. lets go take a nap and when "we" get up we will go outside and play with your power wheel>>>just and example. it gets him excited..and wears him out.

With Linzy and Gracie being close in age, it's an epidemic now! Linzy has decided not to take naps anymore. She'll take one if the morning has been crazy or if she got up too early. But a good 4 days a week, she no nappy! So, I've just kept her up. That makes bedtime around 6:30 or 7, and NO fighting with her to go!

And did she help clean it up? You have to expect that naps are going to GO at some point! But being quiet, playing quietly, and spending time in her room can continue on for many more years. You don't have to give up your time, just because she's not napping. Give her a few items to play with on the bed, and only discipline if she gets up. Give her that space, and time. See if that doesn't make it easier. Half the time Hannah falls asleep playing.

oh my... this is my life with katie beth... We took a lot of stuff OUT of her room for playing. One day I cleaned it out except for a mattress. Instead of being upset, she pointed out things I had missed... I'm about giving up on naps with KB! I got her asleep today, and she was up until 11:30 unable to sleep!
